The Vines
Here, respect for the vine takes precedence over landscaping.
The average age of the vines is 29 years, which unlike other producers in the region, we believe is a great benefit.
No vines have been replanted as the vineyard was in good shape when we acquired this exceptional property.
It’s always better to OBSERVE, better to UNDERSTAND, better to ANTICIPATE.
It’s a matter of finding the correct BALANCE, and following that path.
Biodynamics were introduced 15 years ago at Pontet-Canet and have been introduced here, where it involves a deeper level of engagement.
Each vine is considered to be a unique individual, but one which is a part of the whole.
The external influences, coming from the soil, landscape or sky, give each plant its own identity that must be understood in order to obtain the quintessence of the place in each grape.
The Terroir
It’s a natural “handmade” approach with the focus on the vineyard and winegrower, rather than cellar and winemaker. Although first developed at Pontet-Canet, adapting biodynamics to this new terroir has led to another approach and methodology of expressing the unique character of this place. From a common DNA two distinct and incomparable wines are born.
There is a long-term vision of vine and wine cultures. Each is intimately connected, part of the same whole: the cycles follow each other, never reaching an end. A philosophy arising from a natural cycle, its respect for everything is equally applicable to human society. It is a “humanist” biodynamic, intimate and humble approach, for a limited production wine destined to be enjoyed by a knowledgeable few. It is a reasoned and rigorous approach, validated by certification. It is synonymous with harmony and meticulous attention to detail.
